NIGHT DIVE REVIEW | Lauderdale By The Sea Honey Combs

Posted by: on May 17th, 2012

Last night I attended the night time beach dive summer series with Dixie Divers. Erik, my instructor from my open water certification, leads divers into the dark ocean and teaches proper night diving techniques.

This was the second dive of the series which will extend through the summer on Wednesday nights.

The locations rotate every week. Last night’s dive with at Lauderdale By The Sea’s honey Comb / Swiss cheese reef. This reef is located on the south side of the Commercial Pier, east of the Snorkel Trail. I’ve snorkeled this location a few times and never saw anything too exciting. Going out there at night – DIFFERENT STORY!

The four of us entered the water around 8pm. After our surface swim to the reef, it wasn’t long until we saw the amazing marine life.

Tarpon, squid, lobster, crabs, porcupine fish, rays and an eel were the highlights of this dive.

Dive Time: 00:49
